"Swamp Foot"

I'm a special 3 year old boy who came a long way to find a better life. My home was an animal shelter in Mississippi until they shut it down. People from PAWS came to rescue me and a lot of other animals and brought us to Florida to find a home. I've been suffering with a yeast infection of my feet and when I arrived at PAWS my feet were very swollen. I'm being treated for the infection now and my feet are better though still bothering me some. In spite of everything, I remain a wonderfully calm, loving dog. Unfortunately, I also have Heartworms which are fatal if I don't get treatment. Before PAWS can treat me, I have to be adopted and living in my new home where I can recuperate out of this stressful shelter environment. I'm a beautiful, neutered, male Bulldog mix with a wonderful temperament who will be ready to go home with you if you decide to give a wonderful dog a chance at life.

"Mia"

I am a very sweet one year old female, Bulldog mix. I cannot go to a home with children because I was mistreated by them in my previous home and I’m scared of them. Because of that, I'm also shy but I crave and love attention. I would love to be a lap dog. An adult home or one with older teenagers is what would be best for me. I also have Heartworms which are fatal if not treated and that is another reason that I must go to a home where everyone understands my needs while I'm going through my treatment. The shelter will treat me once I'm adopted and have a home where I can get the rest and loving support I need while I'm going through my treatment. I'm really deserving of the chance to live a full life in a caring home. Will you please give me that chance?

"Camero"

I'm a wonderful Lab mix with a special need. I'm a 3 1/2 year old Mississippi boy who has traveled a long way to find some help and a new home. I was living at an animal shelter in Mississippi but it closed and the people from PAWS came down to bring me and a lot of my friends back to Florida to find homes. Unfortunately, a lot of us have Heartworms and I'm one of the unlucky ones. Without treatment, Heartworms are fatal. The PAWS clinic will treat me but I have to have a home to recuperate in out of this stressful environment. If you are able to give a good dog what might be his first and only chance at a life with a caring family, please come to visit me. You won't regret having saved me.

"Rocky"

I'm a 3 year old male Chihuahua mix who was neglected by his owner. I'm a timid little boy who also has Heartworms so I need an adult home with people who understand Chihuahuas and what my special need is going to require. The Heartworms will kill me if I'm not treated for them. PAWS will give me the treatment but I need a home to recuperate in where I can be quiet and stress free. I'm a sweet little guy who is not feeling very well right now but I do show some real interest in the right chewies and I love to be held. If you can find it in your heart to include a cute little 10 pound dog in your family and give me a chance at life, please come to visit with me. It’s easy to want to cuddle and reassure me!

"China"

I've come all the way from Mississippi to find some help and a new home. I'm a 2 year old Chow mix female and I have Heartworms. For those of you who are leery of the how breed, I'm a mix and show no signs of aggression at all; in fact I'm a little shy. I'm just a sweet girl who's had some bad luck. I was living at an animal shelter in Mississippi, but it closed and the people from PAWS came down to bring me and a lot of my friends back to Florida to find homes. I need a home and I need treatment to take care of my medical condition. Without treatment, Heartworms are fatal. The PAWS clinic will treat me but I have to have a home to recuperate in out of this stressful environment. In spite of my unfortunate history and physical problem, I'm a happy, loving girl who would be thrilled to see someone come to visit me. I think you'll want to take me home once you spend some time with me. Please come. I just need a chance.

"Mugsy"

I'm Mugsy and my name might not sound like it but I'm a beautiful FEMALE Labrador Retreiver. I'm about 2 years old and I don't seem to have a lot of training but I can sit! I need to go to a home with someone who understands active Labs and loves them because I also have a special need. I have Heartworms. PAWS will treat me once I have a home where I can recuperate in a stress free atmosphere unlike the shelter! Without treatment Heartworms are fatal and I won't have a chance at life unless you can make room in your heart and home to save a gorgeous young dog like me. Please visit with me and see how much potential I have to be a great family dog. You will never regret saving a wonderful animal that has no chance without you.

"Regal"

My name is Regal and I look the part. I'm a beautiful 5 year old male, Spaniel mix who has come from Mississippi with a lot of other dogs from a shelter there. The shelter closed down and PAWS rescued us and brought us to Florida. A lot of us were found to have Heartworms and I am one of the unfortunate animals that need treatment to live. I am a really sweet dog whose experiences have made me very timid, but even living in the kennels here, I am already getting a little braver about visiting people who stop at my gate. If you can give a forever home to a gorgeous dog who hasn't had much good in his life, please come to visit me. All I need is lots of love and reassurance from you to gain my confidence again. I'm more than ready to respond with all my loyalty to someone who will give me kind attention. The shelter will treat my Heartworm condition once I'm adopted and have a home to recuperate in. I just need the chance to get well and be a normal, happy dog in a caring home. I’m neutered and ready to start my treatment and go home with you. Can you help?

"Buddy"

I'm a wonderful Dachshund/Terrier mix whose neglectful owner brought me and the 5 other dogs & puppies that were part of our canine family to the shelter. Before coming to PAWS we had to live outside and I became infested with Heartworms. Heartworms come from mosquitoes and they are fatal if not treated. Due to special circumstances, PAWS has begun my treatment but I really need to be adopted and in a stress free, more comfortable environment than the shelter can provide before my next series of injections are given. That will happen very soon. I'm a sweet boy who at 39 pounds is low to the ground and an easy fit for any household. I'm calm, very people oriented and I listen well. Please come to visit with me to see if you can give me the first real home I've ever had and enable me to go through a serious medical treatment in the comfort of a caring home. You will never regret having helped me and I will never forget it!

"Puddin"

My name is Puddin and I'm a 2 year old Long Haired Chihuahua. I'm a pretty little black and tan girl who weighs in at ten pounds of pure sweetness! Picked up by Animal Control as a stray, my temperament test and interaction with the staff here shows that I'm the perfect lap dog. I have a wonderful disposition but I also have a severe case of Heartworms. As if this horrible condition isn't enough for one tiny dog, I also have a skin infection. The PAWS clinic is treating my infection and my skin will be fine before too long but the Heartworms are another story. Heartworms are passed to the dog by a mosquito and the egg travels to the heart where the worms hatch and eventually kill the dog. Without treatment, I will die. PAWS will administer my treatment but I have to be adopted and have a home to go to while I go through my treatment and recuperation. Because of my size and breed I should go to an adult home or one with older teenagers. If you think you would like to have a little girl like me to include in your caring family, please come to visit me. I would love to see you and I hope you'll love me!
