All cats in America can participate in cat shows, but they are divided into groups depending on the breed: semi-long-haired, Siamo-Oriental, long-haired. Within the same breed division by color, age and title, sex is carried out. This is necessary to create equal conditions for the examination of animals by an expert.
The class certificate is given to the best in color pets of the opposite sex who have scored the right number of points during the examination. To get another title, such as champion, as well as moving from one champion class to another, an animal must get a certain number of certificates.
What is important at cat shows:
- The examination is conducted by at least two international category experts from different countries;
- All judges have an official license giving them the right to give marks; a certain percentage of guest judges can vote on the C&P system;
- the exhibition is attended by a minimum of 100 animals, for which applications were filed, if their number is less, the show is considered not international, but national;
- information about the participating animals, the sponsor, the club and the exhibition organizer is placed in the catalog (each pet has its own number there);
- the duration of the competition for each rank is 2-3 days, and in each rank during the day the animal gets one mark;
- examination is completely anonymous (members of the jury do not see the catalog until the end of the event).
Examinations can be:
- closed, when the animals are examined without the owners and spectators being allowed into the examination room;
- open, when the tables of experts are placed in the showroom and one can follow the work of the judges.
In both cases, animals are carried for evaluation by specially trained cat show workers in America, who are called stewards.
In addition to the certificate and evaluation, the pet can be best in color or best of breed.
It can also be nominated for the final Best in Show (BIS) competition and be named Best Animal of the Opposite Sex, Best of Show, Best of the Best.
Shows at Shows
You can take part in shows in your free time. What they are depends on the characteristics of the main event.
Usually the classification is as follows:
- The show for adults (ADULT). It involves cats over 10 months of any breed and veterans.
- The show of the young (JUNIOR). It competes kittens from 3 to 10 months. Of all the submitted breeds expert selects the top 10 representatives, and assigns each of them his place. All winners are awarded rosettes, gifts and cups.
- Castrates Show (NEUTER). Adult neutered and spayed animals of all breeds, as well as neutered and spayed veterans take part in this nomination.
